Alexis received her Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University School of Law in Camden. During her third year of law school, Alexis volunteered with the Domestic Violence Project. She provided legal information about restraining orders to Camden County victims of domestic violence. Alexis also participated in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Project which provides Camden residents with assistance in filing their tax returns.
